Group-Guided
Hidden Gems at Every Turn
Menu of Turkey’s Top Trekking Destinations
Our
Group
Guided
Tours
are
designed
to
introduce
you
to
some
of
the
highlights
of
walking
in
Turkey,
but
also
to
see
some
its
deep
cultural
and
historical
highlights.
Turkey
is
also
a
country
with
an
important
store
of
nature.
It
has
been
identified
as
an
area
of
great
genetic
significance.
The
wide
range
of
habitats
within
the
country,
many
of
which
we
discover
on
our
walks,
are
home
to
a
huge
variety
of
flora
and
fauna.
As
an
example
nearly
10,000
species
of
wild
flowers
have been identified and roughly 40% are endemic (only found in Turkey).
Some
of
Turkey’s
historical
sites
are
well
known
and
include
a
number
of
UNESCO
World
Heritage
Sites.
Wherever
possible
we
have,
of
course,
included
visits
to
these
sites
in
our
itineraries.
However
what
we
also
have
is
the
local
knowledge
to
find
less
well
known
places
of
interest.
Canyons
with
ancient
scripts
carved
in
stone,
pre-historic
paintings,
cave
dwellings,
underground
cities,
sunken
cities,
hidden
monestaries,
walking on roman roads or paths dating to Hellenic times the list seems never ending.
Our
itineraries
take
you
away
from
the
more
well
known
coastal
resorts
to
traditional
villages
and
agricultural
areas
where
we
will
meet
local
people
going
about
their
daily
business.
We
often
stop
and
eat
with
local
farmers
or
nomadic
people,
often
for
lunch
as
part
of
our
daily
walks.
In
this
way
we
can
truly
experience
traditional
Turkish
life
that
runs at a pace and way that has remained largely unchanged for decades.
Our
guided
groups
are
small
with
8-15
people.
There
is
a
support
bus
to
take
us
to
and
from
walks
where
necessary
and
to
move
luggage
from
place
to
place.
On
Kaçkar
mountains
we
also
use
mules!
So
you
are
free
to
walk
with
just
a
day
pack.
Your
guide
will
not
just
show
the
way
and
make
sure
you
are
safe
but
will
also
have
good
English
language
skills
and
a
font
of
knowledge
about
the
local
culture,
history
and
nature
to
share
with
you.
The
first
time
I
walked
from
Alinca
to
Faralya
I
knew
part
of
the
route
was
a
traditional
path
between
Alinca
and
Kabak,
but
I
did
not
know
how
old.
On
the
path
I
met
a
local
guide
who
told
me
it
was
a
path
used
back
in
Hellenic
times.
When
I
have
travelled
in
the
hinterland
I
have
often
been
welcomed
by
locals
or
nomadic
Yörük
people.
These
encounters
are
so
much
the
richer
because I speak good Turkish, and the local knowledge these people have of thier area is astounding.
